Dive Into iTAN’s Bikini Photoshoot
VERTEX recently worked with iTAN to create their new advertising content to be used over the course of the next year. iTAN provides spray and UV tanning services across California. They called my company in when they wanted their creative content to take a slightly different approach to tanning. They wanted to portray the that a tan is an accessory to your lifestyle. It goes with you in your daily life.
For the shoot, my team and I had to shoot four different looks — fitness, swimwear, lifestyle, and formal. My goal was to portray how a tan can enhance beauty and confidence no matter the occasion. After about a month of preparation, we were ready to start production.
After scouting beach towns across Southern California, I found some nice locations in Carlsbad. The spot not only fit all the styles I was going for, but they were also close together to help with time restraints. Going into the shoot, I knew that natural lighting and the tide could create some potential problems. I had a two-hour window to capture both the fitness and swimwear looks before the tide would wash us out. With scouting the location a few days prior, I already knew exactly where I was going to shoot each look, therefore making it much easier to get the most out of our time.
It was great to work with two former Miss USA contestants; Carly Diamond Stone and Toneata Morgan, who are both extremely talented. They were easy to work with, had plenty of natural movement, and brought a lot of good energy. The entire day had a lightheartedness to it which I appreciated. Although there’s always plenty of work to be done, having fun at the same time really makes any photoshoot a success.
