Rabbit Eye Movement

I first met Nychos back in April when I filmed “Operation Desert Eagle”, a video of him painting buses. Nychos is a well-known and highly respected artist from Austria, who recently moved to the Bay Area to focus more of his attention on his art and work on Rabbit Eye Movement.
When it was time for Nychos to launch his clothing line, he flew me out to San Francisco to photograph lifestyle images. He wanted San Francisco aesthetic in his imagery which really grasps the urban street style the city is known for. After scouting out a few locations, we found some great spots that really captured the essence — Delores Park, the Golden Gate Bridge, Market St., and Haight-Ashbury.
With this being an urban brand, and a new one at that, I really wanted to create something more authentic and natural that would set a precedent of the tone and style for the company moving forward. I shot with natural lighting and focused on creating a raw look, different than much of my studio work.
We were on a tight deadline since the online store was set to launch the following week and all of the photos needed to be finished before the site went live. I was only in San Francisco for three days and the pressure was on to work with the models and shoot in a variety of locations within that time frame. After flying back to Southern California, I immediately started editing the photos.
Although I was on a tight schedule, it’s important to ensure that the quality of the photos are never compromised — it’s not just about getting the job done, but retaining quality. Regardless of if it leads to sleepless nights, quality is paramount. In the end the launch was a success!
This project was incredible. We had an amazing time and it’s always an honor to work with other passionate artists who appreciate your vision, especially someone as talented as Nychos.
